At the end of the grant, GRAAB decided it wanted to continue the work it had started since there had been many successes during the SSHS time. Some SPF-SIG funding was applied for and received to fund the continuation of the program. A Board of Directors was established and space was located at a minimal expense to the coalition.
GRAAB has sponsored or participated in Town Hall Meetings, Youth Leadership Conferences, DUI simulations in high schools, anti-smoking billboard campaign, bowling alley non-smoking family nights, YMCA youth events, Recovery Month Walks, Prescription Drug Collections, and guest speakers including Rep. Kevin Brooks, Blake McMeans, Harvey Weiss of National Inhalant Prevention Coalition, and Dr. Adam Blomberg.
Effective Oct. 1, 2010, GRAAB is the recipient of the Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant, a federal program of The Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This is a five-year grant renewable (with reapplication) for an additional five years.
